Q&A WITH ELLE JAKOBY
How long have you worked in tech? Recruiting?
I have worked in IT recruiting for over 2.5 years.
How were you introduced to the recruiting industry?
I was first given an opportunity in Recruiting after gaining experience in Account Management in the hospitality industry. I enjoyed being able to interact with new people everyday which aligned very well with the fast-paced nature of staffing for a boutique firm.
Why do you look forward to working within tech talent acquisition?
I particularly enjoy being able to help professionals with a career move because it's very rewarding to help someone through a big life decision.
If you were to provide advice to peers in tech seeking to develop their careers, what would it be?
Your ability to be honest with yourself about your strengths and weaknesses is a very valuable asset to have. Hiring Managers are much more receptive to a candidate that is open about their weaknesses rather than over-promising and under-delivering their expertise.
How did you first learn about the DeWinter Group?
Ryan Tweedy and I actually had a few common contacts from when I first started in Recruiting so I was interested to learn more about joining a boutique firm again.
What are 3 words to describe the DeWinter Group (or your impression thus far)?
Supportive, family-oriented, and reputable.
How do you plan on developing the DeWinter Group? What are your goals for the coming year?
I'm excited to continue building my own book of business and having the autonomy to support a growing client and candidate base. My goals for this year will be to introduce more professionals to the DeWinter Technology brand by meeting people face to face.
How do you plan on practicing the DeWinter Group's Mission Statement: 'We Build Our Network One Relationship at a Time'?
Being encouraged to meet with more people face to face has been a huge reason why I decided to come to DeWinter. I plan on continuing to build the DeWinter Technology brand by meeting more professionals on a personal level rather than just blast emails and cold calls.
How do you plan on balancing your career at the DeWinter Group and free time?
DeWinter offers great work/life balance which is hard to come by in the Recruiting industry. I can't say I've had trouble with balancing my career and free time since moving to this new team.
If you woke up and had 2,000 unread emails and could only answer 300 of them, how would you choose which ones to answer?
I will typically scan through my inbox and respond according to the level of urgency needed with a response.
